Description
Ii. Detailed Technical Information
Part identity
Name: Intake Camshaft
Brand: Volkswagen original factory spare parts
Part Number: 028109101G (Note: There may be updated versions later. If it ends with H, K, etc., the vehicle VIN code should be used for verification.)
Core functions
Valve control: The core function of the camshaft is to precisely control the opening and closing of the engine intake valves through the cams (peaches) on its shaft.
In coordination with variable valve timing: This camshaft is directly connected to the variable valve timing (VVT) regulator on the intake side. The ECU controls the VVT regulator through oil pressure, thereby dynamically adjusting the opening and closing timing of the intake valves at different speeds and loads to optimize engine performance.
Driving the high-pressure fuel pump: On this EA888 engine, the end of the intake camshaft also features a square boss for driving the high-pressure fuel pump. This is a very crucial and vulnerable feature point of this camshaft.
Material and craftsmanship
It is usually forged from high-strength alloy steel, and the CAM surface undergoes special heat treatment (such as nitriding or induction hardening), which endows it with extremely high surface hardness and wear resistance, while maintaining internal toughness to withstand continuous impact loads.
Iii. Applicable Vehicle Models (Examples)
This camshaft is commonly found in the following models equipped with the EA888 engine (please refer to the VIN code for details)
Volkswagen: 6th and 7th generation Golf GTI, Magotan B7/B8, Passat B7, Tiguan, CC, etc.
Audi: A3, A4, A5, A6, Q3, Q5, etc.
Skoda: Octavia, Superb, etc.
The main applicable engine models include:
EA888 Gen 2: such as CCTA, CBFA, CAWA, etc.
EA888 Gen 3: such as CNCD, CCTA (early models of the third generation), etc.
